Fighting Corruption Update Session by Deloitte

Fighting Corruption: A New Era of Corporate Governance

Dear MOGSC Members,

With Malaysia actively fighting bribery and corruption, there have been legislative changes introducing a new corporate liability offence under Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 that holds corporations and their directors, officers and managers, potentially liable for failing to prevent such corrupt acts from taking place.

The penalties for such offence, which comes into force on 1 June 2020, are hefty – with fines of no less than 10 times the sum of gratification or RM1 million (whichever is higher) and/or 20 years imprisonment.

Deloitte Malaysia and MOGSC are pleased to jointly organise a breakfast talk where we will discuss Malaysia’s efforts to fight corruption.

You will have the opportunity to hear from Deloitte experts on how businesses can embrace the fight against corruption, the challenges to consider and how to prepare for this change. You will also get to learn the key financial crime risks facing Oil & Gas Services companies.
